The Role:

Reporting to the Director of Policy Management and Controls & Accountability (DPMCA), the Manager of Controls & Accountability (MCA) will be responsible for managing the Controls & Accountability unit on a daily basis. Major functions include: designing and developing a campus-wide system of internal controls; operational deployment and monitoring of controls strategy; participating in systems development, providing CAO/CFO and DSA support; developing and delivering training; first line Management/Supervision on a daily basis; and other duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications:

Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with special emphasis on internal control practices and guidelines published by COSO, OMB, and/or GAO.
Working knowledge of designing, implementing, and evaluating control systems
Effective oral communication skills to make presentations before groups of various sizes, conduct participatory meetings and training sessions, gain acceptance of decisions, and advise and collaborate with others.
Strong writing skills to effectively produce reports, manuals, procedures, and training materials for various audiences.
Financial analysis and benchmarking skills.
Leadership, managerial, organizational, and interpersonal skills to work effectively across the entire UCLA campus with all levels of management, faculty, and staff, and with other UC campus colleagues.
Able to lead work groups and cross-functional teams and build partnerships, focus on results, and construct action plans with achievable goals and deadlines.
Able to structure, sequence, prioritize work, allocate resources and manage the effort needed to achieve the required deliverables.
Able to work in a team environment, providing constructive feedback and support as appropriate.
Demonstrated experience in implementing a control strategy in a decentralized environment.
Strategic focus and demonstrated skills in all facets of control systems and project management.
Degree in Business as well as CPA, CMA, or CIA certification with related experience with SOX/SAS115 internal control initiatives; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications, specifically Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

This position is budgeted at $75,000 - $95,000/year.
