City: Chicago
I am an Illinois licensed attorney who is currently clerking at a law office in the Greater Toronto Area, and the firm I work for wishes for me to practice US immigration law from their office.
To practice US immigration law in Ontario I need a Foreign Legal Consultant (FLC) permit. I applied for my FLC with the Law Society of Upper Canada (LSUC), but they informed me that because of my lack of experience practicing law in Illinois I need an Illinois licensed FLC to supervise my work.
The LSUC's Administrative Compliance Department informed me that my supervisor could work with me remotely from a different office as long as he or she supervises and directs my work. They are currently in carriage of my application and will approve it once I find an Illinois licensed FLC to supervise me.
I am seeking an Illinois licensed FLC to supervise my work. This would consist of taking periodic calls/emails from me to answer questions, and periodically reviewing documents. It would not consist of any research or writing.
My firm will pay the FLC for at his/her hourly rate per a bi-weekly invoice.
If you are an Illinois licensed FLC who is interested in this arrangment, or know someone who is, please contact me at your earliest convenience. Thanks.
